Grandmother with glowing skin and her granddaughter, founder of Evermore Skincare, smiling together — symbolizing anti-aging skincare, natural beauty, and generational skincare wisdom.

what my grandmother taught me about skincare - and why she switched to evermore

a few days ago, i wrote about why my grandmother's skin has aged so beautifully and what we often get wrong about ageing.

but the more i thought about her, the more i realised this wasn't just about skin. it's about something quieter. the shift from her generation to mine. and what we owe each other across that distance.

she has always been my inspiration. strong. elegant. glowing in every way. her skin is radiant, dewy and calm; the kind that makes you pause and ask, what's her secret?

her story

in the 1970s, she trained as a beauty therapist in london. a bold move for a woman in her time. she returned to india and opened one of the first salons in our region. since then, she has worn many hats: beautician, politician, social worker, but no matter her role, skincare was always her ritual of self-respect.

her routine was simple. a face wash, a body cleanser, a moisturiser, and occasionally an anti-ageing product. nothing excessive. just enough. and it worked. her skin still glows.

so naturally, i was surprised when she switched to evermore.

why she switched

we often hear that changing habits, especially ones formed over decades, is hard. so when she made the shift, i asked her why.

she said:

"in our time, skincare was simple. we were cautious; things weren't as advanced. we relied on what was safe: homegrown formulas, medicinal ingredients, minimal steps. we understood the role of food. what we ate mattered as much as what we applied.

but your generation is facing something different. pollution, stress, chemicals, constant stimulation. you need skincare that is gentle yet effective. that protects without overwhelming."

she told me how much she loved our use of cactus - निवडुंग, as she calls it. it had always grown around her, mostly as fruit. she had never thought of it as a skincare ingredient until now.

what stayed with me

what touched me most was this:

"you didn't chase a trend. you took something rooted in tradition and turned it into something thoughtful, modern and safe. your products feel like they're made for skin like mine; simple, soothing and gentle. familiar, but better."

she wasn't just complimenting me or the brand. she was showing me that evermore had become more than an idea. it was something that resonated with people like her, and with skin like hers.

if evermore can become part of your ritual, whether you are 25 or 75, then we have achieved what we set out to do.

with love,
